Domestic Violence victims are not alone during this time, or anytime:An update from Essex County Family Justice CenterLike all of you, we at the Family Justice Center (FJC) are doing our best to adapt, and re-adapt, to the ever-changing circumstances surrounding us. We have shifted to remote services during this public health crisis, so while our physical doors are closed, we are still very much open and committed to the safety and support of victims of domestic violence.FJC domestic violence advocates are working tirelessly to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information to victims who call us for help. Advocates are responding to the new environment and creating safety plans that recognize the dangers of isolation with an abuser. (Read more about these dangers here). Freeholder President Brendan Gill at the Secure the Vote Rally, organized by Blue Wave NJ, speaking to the need for Essex County to implement voting machines that require signed paper ballots, and calling on the United States Senate to join the House in approving HR 3351 which will provide the federal funding for all states to enhance security measures around their voting process.' I have been a staunch advocate for Essex County purchasing voting machines that employ the use of optical scanners and hand-written ballots. If a voting machine cannot be audited by referring to individually marked and signed ballots, then votes tallied by those machines can be altered electronically, rendering our entire election process unreliable.'
